3. RECORD OF CHANGES.
This document supersedes the DOD CMAG MIL-STD-2549 Errata List dated 1998 March 31. All changes from the previous issue are highlighted.
a. All items numbered 1-xxx first appeared in the November 1997 issue of this errata listing. Most of these changes are corrections of typographical errors. Content was not intentionally changed.
b. All items numbered 2-xxx first appeared in the March 31, 1998 issue of this errata listing. Most of these changes are changes necessary to move toward a harmonization with ISO 10303 (STEP). Although this errata appears to be quite extensive, most of the changes are driven by a single change that will have minimal impact on programming. Specifically, the decision was made to allow the document-type-code to be user-assigned, including blank. To accomplish this, it was treated as a concatenated field with document-source--assigned-identifier to form document identifier. Within a physical database, these two fields could be treated as separate fields or as a single field; if treated as separate fields, there should be minimal programming impact. Because the document-type-code was used so extensively in the conceptual schema, its removal (by incorporation into document-identifier) causes a ripple of changes throughout the document).
Replaced/Superseded by document(s)
This document has been prepared by the DOD Configuration Management Advisory Group (CMAG). It contains the planned corrective actions for all errors and enhancements that have been identified to the CMAG and for which a resolution has been determined. It is the CMAG's intent that this document will be updated every 4-5 months until it is incorporated into MIL-STD-2549 Revision A to be published at the conclusion of testing (currently planned for mid 1999).
Although this is a "working document", it is the official view of the CMAG as of the date of the document and it is recommended that it be used in conjunction with the approved MIL-STD-2549 in the interim until MIL-STD-2549A is released.
